RI State Beach Parking Status
Rhode Island state beaches include Charlestown Breachway, East Beach in Charlestown, East Matunuck in South Kingstown, Misquamicut in Westerly, Roger Wheeler, Scarborough North and South, and Salty Brine in Narragansett.
Do you see an open parking space, but the lot is temporarily closed?
To support the safety and enjoyment of beach patrons, DEM staff determine the lot status by monitoring the available space on the sand to prevent overcrowding. This ensures that lifeguards and first responders have sufficient space to respond to water emergencies and that beach facilities can support the number of people on a given day.
These temporary closures are at the discretion of beach staff, who closely monitor available space on the beach and reopen lots as space becomes available. We appreciate your patience and kindly ask you to be courteous to others as you enter the lot. If you arrive at a favorite beach and find the lot closed, please consider visiting a different location or returning at another time of day.
