Picnic Site, Shelter & Field Rentals
Picnic sites, covered shelters, and recreational fields are a great home base for a small get-together or family gathering. Designated picnic areas within state parks are available on a first-come, first-served basis or available by reservation. Please contact the regional park office directly or email DEM.RIparks@dem.ri.gov for questions.
Reservable Sites
Advance payment for reservations is required within 10 business days; upon the receipt of payment (cash, check, or money order accepted), a permit for the site will be issued. Reservations not paid within 10 business days will be canceled. Permit fees are non-refundable.
- From the second Saturday in April to October 31, annually, reservations and rental fees are required to use pavilions, shelters, gazebos, designated fields, and picnic tables. Outside of these reservation periods, all areas become first come/ first serve with no rental fee required.
- Regardless of the time of year, you will need to contact the individual Park Office or contact RI State Park Headquarters at 401-667-6200 or by emailing DEM.RIparks@dem.ri.gov if you intend to use these areas for an organized group gathering or events in order to determine if the activity requires a Special Use Permit.

- Reservations are required to use the picnic pavilion from Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day
Location: Route 114, Bristol
What's Available: 51 multi-table picnic sites, 3 covered shelters, 1 ceremonial chapel area
Note: the locations of some sites at Colt have changed as of 2020; patrons are advised to check the desired location in person before making a reservation.
