Park Ranger Led Walk at Butts Hill Fort
Join a Rhode Island State Park Ranger on Saturday July 18th for a pop-up walk at Butts Hill Fort in Portsmouth in partnership with the Battle of Rhode Island Association.
The Walks start at 10 AM, explore sites tied to the American Revolution, Walks are free and open to all, and take place rain or shine. Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes, and bring water and sunscreen, leashed dogs are welcome.
Butts Hill Fort—an important site during the Battle of Rhode Island and headquarters for General John Sullivan and patriot forces during the Aug 29th 1778 campaign.
Meet at the Portsmouth High School parking lot, near the tennis courts (look for wind turbine). 120 Education Ln, Portsmouth, RI
We’ll also stop at the memorial to the 1st Rhode Island Infantry, recognized as the first integrated regiment of the American Revolution located at the site now known as Patriots Park.
