- Goddard Memorial Golf Course closes for the season on Monday, September 21, to address significant turf die-off from crabgrass and drought.
- Burlingame State Campground: New shower and restroom facilities
- New Visitor Center and Operations Building at Colt State Park
- New entrance design project at Rocky Point State Park
- Coastal habitat restoration project at Ninigret Barrier Beach Restoration (East Beach in Charlestown)
- The western side of the Quonochontaug (Quonnie) Breachway is closed to vehicle traffic. The public can still access the boat ramp and the eastern side of the breachway.
Recently Completed Projects
- Charlestown Breachway long-term repair project completed
- New entrance booths and traffic patterns are now in effect at Misquamicut State Beach
- Roger Wheeler State Beach boardwalk and upgraded bulkhead.

State Park Master Plans
DEM is developing master plans that reimagine the future of State Parks. The work includes plans to protect and engage historic and natural resources to support future generations' use of specific state parks. Projects identify a vision for visitor services, including vehicle access and circulation, pedestrian circulation, stormwater management, comfort facilities, access to natural and man-made structures and environments, protection of sensitive resources, and enhancement of the enjoyment and stewardship of the Park for users of all ages and abilities.
